*This sonnet was written after a giant group discussion about how senior year in high school is basically exactly the same as every other year and not really as cool as everyone thinks. A couple people were complaining about it and Taking Back Sunday’s song “New Again” happened to be playing on my i-pod so I figured why not, I’ll write about it*
Four years pass me by while nothing changes,
Emotions run a cycle every time.
The kids bother with bitter exchanges.
As this 4th year moves, the emotions climb.
Drama is the new focal point in life.
Nobody wants to be held down like this.
The hallways are ringing with constant strife.
This last year was supposed to just have bliss.
There’s no difference from the three years before.
The rumors of the last year are just myth.
There’s still time for this year to become more.
For improvement, action must be forthwith.
Otherwise, next year will have to be when,
College starts, and I can be new again.
